Funktion One RM15's Sounding "Cliar" ( 17/11/2006)
We have just returned from a small tour with Scottish Group "Cliar"
Cliar, a six-piece band, is made up of three main singers leading individual songs and combining in spine-tingling close-harmony.
This is Backed by harp, keys, guitar, pipes and whisltle.

The first venue on the tour was at Arros near Portree on the isle of Skye.
The room was acoustically very dry with a balcony and a great stage.
" I was very excited about using the RM15's for the main rig." enthuses Jimi Troup " they sound very natural because they use a 5" transducer to reproduce the high frequencies. This avoids all the artifical harmonics that a typical compresion driver creates. During sound check I noticed that with some carefull panning to match the performers position on stage with my stereo image, I could create the illusion of the speakers almost disapearing."

The next venue was a traditional hall with a high roof in Arisaig. " When we first arrived I could already imagine my equalisers with huge chunks of frequencies ripped out to comensate for the room. Then I remembered that the RM15's are fully horn loaded. During the sound check I was astonished at how much of the speakers energy was directed on to the listening area and away from the walls and roof. This let me use a minimal amount of equalisation and again achieve a very natural and pleasing result".
